Skin Care Review: Human Heart Nature 100% Natural Moisturizing Night Cream

A few posts ago, I've reviewed the Human Heart Nature Moisturizing Day Fluid, and the gist is that I loved it a lot. And I may have forgotten to mention it then but this day fluid actually has a twin sister, which is a moisturizing night cream. In this post, it is its turn on the spotlight.

Human Heart Nature 100% Natural Moisturizing Night Cream with Plant Collagen is what this product's called.

According to the label, it 'helps stimulate the regeneration of the skin and infuse it with maximum moisture while you sleep'.

The ingredients are claimed to be 100% all-natural and include--

'water, isostearyl hydroxystearate (vegetable derived), dicapryl ether (vegetable derived), caprylic/capric triglyceride (coconut derived), glyceryl stearate (vegetable derived), glycerin, Persea americana (avocado) seed oil, Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, stearyl alcohol (vegetable derived), Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, natto gum, tapioca starch, glyceryl caprylate (coconut oil, palm oil and glycerin derived), xanthan gum, fragrance (all natural), anisic acid (anise seed derived'-- taken from hhn.com site.

In my experience of using night creams, the ones with collagen are usually the ones that work best because they give me supple and fresh-looking skin come morning. So upon seeing this HHN night cream on the website, I instantly knew that it was a must-try.

I have a good history with Human Heart Nature, proof are my positive reviews on several of their products, so if I was ever hesitant with this night cream, it was but negligible and my expectations high. After all, this product is all-natural and has plant collagen. The worst that it can do is not work for my skin type.

I bought it together with the HHN day fluid and have been using them together for weeks now. And while I gave a review on the day fluid early on, I waited a while to give my verdict on this night cream.

And all these time I've been slathering it on my face at night time, sometimes daytime, too, if I can get away with it, and I only have one thing to say about it-- it works!

Yes, every morning I wake up to a plump, fresh-looking, and healthy skin. Not only can you see the difference but you can feel it, too. Without this product before, my skin looked kinda flat and pale each morning.

And together with the moisturizing day fluid, I know my skin is in good hands.

Pros:
  • Affordable at Php264.75 for 100ml.
  • Available online at Human Heart Nature website
  • A little goes a long way. Four pumps cover my entire face and neck
  • Comes in with a convenient pump
  • All-natural ingredients
  • Smells a subtle hint of fresh and baby powder scent
  • Absorbs quickly on the skin
  • Doesn't leave a greasy feeling
  • Makes skin plump and fresh-looking
Cons:
  • It actually has a fluid than cream consistency

With the rate I'm using this product, and with the amount I use each time, I'm still confident that it's still going to last me for months. It is that potent that even a small amount already works wonders.

And just an additional tip, it is alright to use the day fluid and night cream altogether. Whether for daytime or night, just apply the day fluid first, let it absorb completely, then slather on the night cream last. The day fluid has vitamins and minerals so you would want your skin to drink them first. Not to mention that the fluid form can easily give way to the cream after, by allowing it to serve as a wall that encloses all the vitamins inside.

Hope this review helps!

Makeup Review: KMS 506 Foundation Brush review

If you haven't heard of KMS makeup brushes yet, I wouldn't be so surprised. Unlike popular brands and those uncommon ones only usually found at online stores, this brand can be usually found in the cheapo section, among Chinese-named makeup products, that you usually don't bother browsing around.

I can't really blame you there because usually, they only mean low quality, toxic ingredients, and all other excuses you associate with untrustworthy manufacturing. And you have a point there really. Usually, you're right about these assumptions.

But once in a while, there are products from this section that make the cut (and we have proven this one too many times with other products). It's the KMS makeup brush for this instance.

I recently got the KMS 506 foundation brush at the local mall when I was browsing through the makeup racks passing the time.

What made me decide to get it are:

  • The handle is pink so it's cute.
  • It's short so it's handy for travel.
  • The bristles are soft. Not nylon-ish like my ELF foundation brush.
  • It's two-toned.
  • I needed to get a new foundie brush.
  • I've already tried a nameless kabuki brush from the same rack in the past and it worked so so well.
  • It's super cheap at Php39.75

Usually, the major concern we have for buying cheap products is if we can get our money's worth out of it. Cheap usually means easily-torn so it's still best to get expensive ones that allow us to use it for years and years.

However, I won't be able to tell you that for this particular brush because I only got it pretty recently. But since I'm pretty much careful with my brushes and I don't wear foundation too often, and this brush is pretty much decently made that's why I got it in the first place, I'm guessing I can pretty much get my money's worth out of it. But in case I'm wrong, I'll tell you about it, too. :)

So, in the short time that I have this brush in my possession, here is my review on it:

Pros:
  • Super affordable at Php39.75
  • Easily found at local department stores
  • Soft and fine bristles for its price
  • Handy; good for travel
  • Please, let me say PINK!
Cons:
  • I'm not so sure about the ferrule
  • You need to use it gently for fear of tear and wear
  • So far, I've only seen basic brushes from this line. No fancy angled-something-something brushes yet.

I'm really ecstatic about this buy. Once again, it has proved to me that great products need not be expensive. And the next time I need new makeup brushes, this brand is the first one I'll check out.

Makeup Review: Ever Bilena Advance Compact Powder in Natural White

A few months ago, our house got robbed and some of the things that got stolen from me were my laptop and bag. Now, I won't go into the sorry details of losing my laptop (it still breaks my heart to remember it) but I'd segue to the tidbit that my favorite powder EVER was inside that bag.

After that, I kind of waited a while to get another of that powder because I promised myself it's all I'm ever gonna use. Unfortunately, I have to travel to Davao City for that because they have the only Beauty Bar in the area.

But two weeks ago, I had a wedding to attend to and that means I needed to wear makeup. With that, it meant I needed a new face powder. Not having the time to purchase my fave face powder, I opted for this refill pack of Ever Bilena Advance powder in Natural White

This should be enough to tide me over until I am able to get to Beauty Bar.

I got the  shade in Natural White.

At first, I was unconvinced if it was the right shade for me despite having tested it several times, and getting the right match every time.

The 'white' part of the name was drilling doubts in my mind and I had to heckle the saleslady if they have another shade. I was kind of hoping she'd give me something that simply said 'natural' or even 'beige'. Anything without 'white' really was fine. No such luck, however, so I accepted the fact that the shades were just really weirdly named as such.

Because it's a refill pack, it only came with a powder puff and a thin paper as a barrier in between. And since I didn't have the full size in the first place, I didn't have the case to store it.

What I did is just keep this powder safely tucked inside my new vanity kit, hoping it won't make a mess inside. So far so good.

Trying it on, the powder leaves a matte finish, creates a natural coverage, and effectively covers most of my blemishes.

I wore it to a family dinner last week and I'm mighty loving it!

This powder is so simple and fuss-free that I won't hesitate using it even on simple days when I simply need a shine-free face.

Pros:
  • Affordable at Php140+ (refill)
  • Matte finish
  • Even and medium coverage
  • Lasts a bit longer even when it's cheaper compared to other powders
  • Fine and silky texture
Cons:
  • For its price--   none.
I'm really impressed with this powder. But while I'm happy with it, I'm still adamant to make it as a temporary  replacement, up until I'm able to get my hands on that rice powder that I really love.

Makeup Review: Etude House Magic Tint Balm in 01-Magic Red

I was browsing through Etude House the other week when I came upon the Magic Tint Balm in 01-Magic Red

I immediately fell in love with the idea of keeping a tinted lipbalm on my purse because:

  1. It's been so long since I've used a 'tinted' balm.
  2. There are times when I don't feel like using lipstick or mentholated balm with SPF, especially on days when I'm simply running errands. (SPF is still the best choice but there are days when 'tinted' seems prettier than reason and sense)
  3.  It's in a pot. I'm a sucker for pot and tin containers.
  4. The shade looked right for me.

Etude House Magic Tint Balm 01-Magic Red is also infused with Vitamin E, which helps in naturally nourishing the lips.

The saleslady at Etude House even recommended to apply the balm before sleeping as it will serve as a moisturizer, together with your usual night cream and such. I have yet to try it but I've no doubt it will work.

Why?

Because it already works during daytime for me.

Aside from 01-Magic Red, there are other 3 shades available--

02-Magic Pink
03-Magic Orange
04-Cherry Red

This lip balm gives off a glossy shine and a natural hint of red, giving the impression that I have wet and healthy looking puckers.

That 'wet' part is the sort of thing when you just licked your lips. Not in a gross kind of way though, but in a cute way rather.

Pros:
  • Affordable at Php200+ (I forgot the exact amount because I'm a dolt)
  • Makes lips soft and supple.
  • Has vitamin E that nourishes the lips
  • Provides a simple hint of 'red' to the lips
  • The balm's texture is buttery, making it easier to glide over
Cons:
  • Lasts for only an hour. Two hours tops
  • Packaging is plastic, which gives off a cheap vibe
  • The lid is a bit difficult to handle, especially when closing

The packaging of this tinted balm could definitely use an improvement.  Efficacy-wise, it's close to perfect if only it could last longer than just an hour or two.  More vitamins in the mix wouldn't hurt either.
